Minutes of the May 2004 Supervisors' MeetingThe Silver Lake Township Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 3, 2004, at the Silver Lake Township Building. Terrence Dugan called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM and everyone saluted the Flag. The minutes of the April meeting were read and approved. The minutes of the Special Meeting were read and approved. The Treasurer’s report was read, approved and held for audit on motion made by Tom Swan and seconded by Terry Dugan. There were no public comments. Terry Dugan explained that Silver Lake has opted in with UCC. Residents will go through COG after July 1st for a building permit as well as to setup their various inspections. There are still a lot of questions to be answered. Terry explained that it is in the best interest of the residents to answer questions along with other member municipalities and COG then everyone will be in line at the same time. Silver Lake will be able to opt-out after a year if the Supervisors decide this is not working out for residents. The new junk yard ordinance should be ready for the June meeting. Silver Lake has some obvious problems with several properties and the junk they are accumulating on their property. Chief Michael Hornak gave the police report. There were a number of reports involving ATVs complaints. Tom Swan gave the road report. Six catch basins will be installed on Lake Front Road. Two of the catch basins will be put in under the Agility Program. A representative from Harrisburg came to take a look at Wilkes-Barre Turnpike for the grant. When he was done with the meeting he announced the grant had been awarded to Silver Lake Township for $1.2 million. Representative Sandy Major and Bobbi Jo Turner with Susquehanna County Housing and Redevelopment were very helpful in getting this grant. Fifteen building permits were issued during the month of April. As no further business was presented, Terry Dugan made a motion to adjourn and Tom Swan seconded, approved.
