Minutes of the September 2004 Supervisors' MeetingThe Silver Lake Township Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at the Silver Lake Township Building. Terrence Dugan called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and everyone saluted the Flag. The minutes of the August meeting were read and approved. The Treasurer’s report was read, approved and held for audit on a motion made by Tom Swan and seconded by Terry Dugan. There were no public comments. Terry Dugan summarized Ordinance No. 35 for assessment permits. This ordinance covers structures between 50 and 1,000 square feet. Tom Swan made a motion to pass Ordinance No. 35 and Terry Dugan seconded, approved. Terry Dugan summarized Ordinance No. 37 for cell towers. This ordinance outlines the rules and regulations for the construction of cell towers and allows municipalities to construct the towers and municipal properties Terry Dugan made a motion to pass Ordinance No. 37 and Tom Swan seconded, approved. Susquehanna County Recycling Center will be holding a household hazardous waste collection on October 2. Registration forms will be available at the township office and posted at the post office as well as at Tuckers store. Road Report: The Lake Front Road Project has been awarded to Conaty Construction. Dirt and Gravel Road Project for Russell Road has been completed. The project to remove trees and widen Brinton Road has been completed. Tom Swan said that he would like to go from 3 trucks to 4 trucks for snow plowing. This would allow roads to be done quicker and the road crew would not have to be out as long. The trucks we currently have are getting to the point that they are so old it is getting difficult to find parts when something breaks. Tom Swan reviewed a resolution which would allow Silver Lake Township to purchase a new truck through the piggyback program with the City of Harrisburg. Tom Swan made a motion to approved Resolution No. 106-04 and Terry Dugan seconded, approved. A 2005 International truck has been ordered and will be ready sometime in late November. We have also ordered a prefabricated salt building that will be constructed soon. This will allow Silver Lake to salt roads when necessary without having to call in PennDOT. Silver Lake will need to advertise for bids for fuels. Terry Dugan made a motion to advertise for unleaded gas, on-road diesel, heating oil and propane, Sandy Payne seconded, approved. Silver Lake Township will be signing an agreement with PennDOT to allow the township electronic access to their website. In the near future everything the township needs to file with PennDOT will be done through their website. Chief Michael Hornak gave the police report with l5 various reportable incidents. Tom Swan made a motion to pay the bills as submitted and Terry Dugan seconded, approved. As no further business was presented, Tom Swan made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Terry Dugan seconded, approved.
