The Silver Lake Township Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Monday June 6, 2005 at the Silver Lake Township Building. Terrence Dugan called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and everyone saluted the Flag. Terry Dugan asked for a moment of silence in remembrance of the Battle of Normandy which occurred 60 years ago today.

Tom Swan made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Terry Dugan seconded, approved. The Treasurer’s report was read, approved and held for audit on motion made by Tom Swan and seconded by Terry Dugan.

Mr. Jim Harvilchuck read a letter of support for the Silver Lake Township Police Department and made several suggestions to help keep the police department funded.

Terry Dugan made a motion to advertise for an ordinance relating to the renaming of township roads to help the 911 Communication Center in responding to emergencies, Tom Swan seconded, approved.

Terry Dugan read a list of requests that have been made for fireworks permits. Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Department for their Field Days in July, The Demaree Family have 2 dates in July, Norton Bingo for July 4 and Kevin Duke for July 4.

Chief Michael Hornak gave the police report. There were a number of reportable incidents for the month of May. The police reports are now being published in the Susquehanna County Transcript.

Tom Swan gave the road report. The bids for the East Wilkes Barre Turnpike project will be opened the end of June. Lake Front Road is almost done. McCormick Road which suffered damage from Hurricane Ivan is just about done and then the FEMA package will be complete.

Petitions forms have been prepared for signatures in support of cell towers going up. Once the petitions are signed they will be sent to several cell phone companies in hopes of getting a few towers constructed in the area.

Two assessment permits were issued during the month of May.

Terry Dugan made a motion to pay the bills as submitted, Tom Swan seconded, approved. As no further business was presented, Terry Dugan made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
