Minutes of the August 2005 Supervisors' MeetingThe Silver Lake Township Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, August 1, 2005 at the Silver Lake Township Building. Terrence Dugan called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and everyone saluted the Flag. Tom Swan made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Terry Dugan seconded, approved. The Treasurer’s report was read, approved and held for audit on motion made by Tom Swan and seconded by Terry Dugan. Public Comment: Now that Lake Front Road project is completed it was asked what could be done to control the speed limit on the road. Terry Dugan explained that a Speed Control Ordinance would be advertised and past at the September meeting to reduce the speed limits on all township road. It was asked if speed bumps could be put down. Terry said that an engineering study would have to be done and even then the township would face liabilities with them. It was suggested that individuals put orange cones at the edge of their property to help slow traffic down. Tom Swan made a motion to advertise the speed regulation ordinance, Terry Dugan seconded, approved. Residents are having difficulties with the garbage company. Anyone that is not happy with the present garbage service is welcome to contract with any other hauler. Terry Dugan also read a Parking Ordinance that will not allow any parking on any part of the driving service. Tom Swan made a motion to advertise the Parking Ordinance, Terry Dugan seconded, approved. Terry Dugan summarized a Junk and Nuisance Ordinance. There are problems within the township regarding junk cars and junk on individuals’ properties. Terry Dugan made a motion to advertise the Junk and Nuisance Ordinance, Tom Swan seconded, approved. Chief Michael Hornak gave the police report with 29 reportable incidents for the month of July. Tom Swan gave the road report. FAHS Ralston has been awarded the East Wilkes-Barre Road project. They were the lowest bidder at $1.6 Million. Some items have been eliminated to bring the project down to $1.3 Million. The State has agreed to give additional funding to complete this project. Fuel Bids were opened: Mirabito Fuel: Diesel Fixed price of $2.19/Gallon or Flex price of $1.83/gallon. Unleaded gas with a flex price of $1.78/gallon. Heating Oil fixed price of $1.40/gallon or Flex price of $1.35/gallon. Loader Bids were opened: Tracy: New Holland at $107,933.00 All bids will be reviewed before a final decision is made One building permit was issued during the month of July. Tom Swan made a motion to pay the bills as submitted, Terry Dugan seconded, approved. As no further business as presented, Terry Dugan adjourned the meeting.
