Minutes of the September 2005 Supervisors' MeetingThe Silver Lake Township Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at the Silver Lake Township Building. Terrence Dugan called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and everyone saluted the Flag. Tom Swan made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Terry Dugan seconded, approved. The Treasurer’s report was read, approved and held for audit on motion made by Tom Swan and seconded by Terry Dugan. Public Comment: Terry Dugan explained that there were three ordinances that had been advertised and were being considered for adoption. The Speed Limit Ordinance will not be approved until a traffic study of township roads is finished. He hopes this will be completed by the October meeting. It was asked if all township roads will be posted. The speed limit will assist the police department because as it is right now cars can travel 55 MPH. If cars are traveling fast on a township, Sergeant Burgh suggested residents call to let them know it should be patrolled. If no one calls the police department thinks that there are no problems on that road. Parking Ordinance—it was asked if during special events if a permit could be issued allowing vehicles to park on the road. Terry recommended that in those cases the police department should be notified. The concern is that emergency vehicles should have ample room to get through. Tom Swan made a motion to pass the Parking Ordinance, Terry Dugan seconded, approved. Tom Swan made a motion to pass the Nuisance/Junkyard Ordinance, Terry Dugan seconded, approved. Terry Dugan made a motion to table the Speed Limit Ordinance until the traffic study is complete, Tom Swan seconded, approved. Sergeant Tim Burgh gave the police report with 27 reportable incidents for the month of August. Tom Swan gave the road report. He updated residents on the progress of East Wilkes Barre Turnpike. Three assessment permits were issued during the month of August. Tom Swan made a motion to pay the bills as submitted, Terry Dugan seconded, approved. As no further business as presented, Terry Dugan adjourned the meeting.
