Minutes of the March 2006 Supervisors' Meeting

The Silver Lake Township Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, March 6, 2006 at the Silver Lake Township building. Tom Swan called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and everyone saluted the Flag.

Tom Swan made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Sandy Payne seconded, approved. The Treasurer’s report was read, approved and held for audit on motion made by Tom Swan and seconded by Sandy Payne.

Public Comment: It was asked what the status was on the rest of the East Wilkes Barre Turnpike Project. Fahs Construction will be coming out and putting additional material on the road and then Vestal Asphalt will stone and oil. Tom Swan is still applying for a grant to have the road paved but it make take a while but in the meantime it will be stone and oiled to hold the material in place.

Tom gave an update on cell towers. IWA called and said that communication companies are not expanding the way it is stated in their license. They are recommending that we contact our representatives and present a bill that if companies do not expand like they are supposed to then they have their licenses taken away and give it to a company that will expand.

We have received a letter from the Governor’s Center approving our $25,000 2% equipment loan.

George Basel, Chairman of the Municipal Authority, thanked the Supervisors for their support at a recent DEP meeting regarding Quaker Lake Sewage System.

Chief Michael Hornak gave the Police Report with 23 reportable incidents.

Tom Swan gave the road report. Several road signs have been removed and found in other locations throughout the township.

Tom Swan made a motion to advertise for various road materials, Sandy Payne seconded approved.

Tom Swan made a motion to pay the bills as submitted, Sandy Payne seconded, approved.

As no further business was presented, Tom Swan made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
