Minutes of the April 2006 Supervisors' Meeting

The Silver Lake Township Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, April 3, 2006 at the Silver Lake Township building. Terry Dugan called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and everyone saluted the Flag.

Tom Swan made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Terry Dugan seconded, approved. The Treasurer’s report was read, approved and held for audit on a motion made by Terry Dugan and seconded by Tom Swan.

Public comment: It was asked if any other township would be joining up with the Silver Lake Police Department. Terry Dugan said nothing has been officially decided. COG is will be doing a study and looking into a Municipal Police force.

The condition of the dirt roads was a concern for a few residents. Tom explained that the road are extremely soft and to put the heavy equipment on the roads just makes matters worse. Tom also said that when the roads started to dry out they tried to roll some of the ruts out and the roller broke down.

Terry Dugan made a motion to appoint Tim Burgh as Code Enforcement Officer mainly to enforce the Township Ordinances at a rate of $10 an hour, Tom Swan seconded, approved.

Terry Dugan read a letter from John McNamara resigning as Emergency Management Coordinator due to health problems. This is a position John held for 44 years. Terry made a motion to accept the letter, Tom Swan seconded, approved.

Chief Michael Hornak gave the police report with 16 reportable incidents in March.

Tom Swan gave the road report. Tom said that road materials would not be bid out this year. Instead they will take advantage of the state piggyback program. Tom Swan made a motion to advertise for three road projects, Terry Dugan seconded, approved.

Terry Dugan made a motion to pass the Speed Regulation Ordinance, Tom Swan seconded, approved. The state is in the process of changing the street sign regulations. This may be a good project to work on under the Agility Program.

There were no Assessment Permits issued in the month of March.

Tom Swan made a motion to pay the bills as submitted, Terry Dugan seconded, approved. As no further business was presented, Terry Dugan made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
