Minutes of the March 2007 Supervisors' Meeting

The Silver Lake Township Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, March 5, 2007 at the Silver Lake Township Building. Terrence Dugan called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and everyone saluted the Flag.

Tom Swan made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Terry Dugan seconded, approved. The Treasurer’s report was read, approved and held for audit on a motion made by Tom Swan and seconded by Terry Dugan.

There were no public comments.

Terry Dugan read an ordinance provided by COG relating to a Sewage Maintenance Agreement. Tom Swan made a motion to advertise the ordinance, Terry Dugan seconded, approved. Terry Dugan read a resolution to apply for a joint municipal equipment grant. Silver Lake and Choconut will be applying for a grant towards the purchase of a chipper. Tom Swan made a motion to apply for the grant, Terry Dugan seconded, approved.

Tom Swan spoke regarding two equipment loans. One loan is for the purchase of the new 2007 Ford Police Car. The Police Department received a $10,000 towards the purchase of the car. The 2000 Ford Crown Victoria Police car was totaled by the insurance company. A used car will be purchased. Terry Dugan made a motion to obtain an auto loan for the two police vehicles, Tom Swan seconded, approved.

Chief Michael Hornak read the Police Report with 14 reportable incidents for the month of February.

Tom Swan gave the road report. Tom said the new 2007 International truck will be ready for shipment soon and made a motion to apply for a loan, Terry Dugan seconded, approved.

The rain that was received in November of 2006 has now been declared as a state of emergency. Preliminary documents have been received from FEMA. Terry Dugan read a Resolution to appoint Tom Swan as the Designation of Agent, Sandy Payne seconded, approved.
Terry Dugan read a letter received from Marson Energy which included a $1,000 as a contribution to the Police Department for their AED program.

No Assessment Permits were issued during the month of February.
Tom Swan made a motion to pay the bills as submitted, Terry Dugan seconded, approved.
As no further business was presented, Terry Dugan made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
