Minutes of the June 2008 Supervisors' Meeting

The Silver Lake Township Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, June 2, 2008 at the Silver Lake Township building.  Terry Dugan called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and everyone saluted the Flag.

Tom Swan made a motion t accept the minutes as read, Terry Dugan seconded, approved.  The Treasurer’s report was read and held for audit on a motion made by Tom Swan and seconded by Terry Dugan.

PennDOT has completed their traffic study on SR 4002 in the area of Quaker Lake and has reduced the speed limit to 25 mph.

It was asked when the special meeting regarding the proposed zoning ordinance would take place.  Terry Dugan said the ordinance was being reviewed for changes and the meeting should take place within the next month.

Carl Esposito’s term on the Silver Lake Municipal Board has expired.  Dominick Cerretani has agreed to accept this position.  Terry Dugan made a motion to appoint Dominick Cerretani to the Silver Lake Township Municipal Authority, Tom Swan seconded, approved.

As part of Claverack’s annual meeting a voting delegate needs to be appointed, Sandy Payne made a motion to appoint Tom Swan as the voting delegate, Terry Dugan seconded, approved.

Nick Demaree requested 2 fireworks permits for Quaker Lake – June 20 and July 4, Terry Dugan made a motion to approve the permit, Tom Swan seconded approved.  Joe Chobot has requested a commercial fireworks permit for Laurel Lake.  Mr. Chobot will be approved as long as he has the necessary federal paperwork required for the commercial grade fireworks.

Terry Dugan spoke regarding the rising cost of property taxes and explained that the township is looking for alternatives to property taxes.  Terry made a motion to do some research on earned income tax with Berkheimer Tax Administrators, Tom Swan seconded, approved.

Chief Michael Hornak gave the police report with 34 reportable incidents for the month of May.  There continues to be a number of complaints regarding ATVs.

Tom Swan gave the road report.  Roads are being worked and dust is a problem.

Three assessment permits were issued in May.

Tom Swan made a motion to pay the bills as submitted, Terry Dugan seconded, approved.  As no further business was presented, Terry Dugan made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
