Minutes of the July 2008 Supervisors' Meeting

The Silver Lake Township Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, July 7, 2008 at the Silver Lake Township building. The Regular meeting followed a special meeting.    Terry Dugan called the meeting to order at 7:45 pm and everyone saluted the Flag.

Tom Swan made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Terry Dugan seconded, approved.  The Treasurer’s report was read and held for audit on a motion made by Tom Swan and seconded by Terry Dugan.

Discussion continued regarding zoning.  Terry Dugan explained that Community Planning was chosen to help write the proposed zoning ordinance because he works mostly with rural townships.  Each township modifies the ordinance to best suit the individual township.  Grant money was received from the state to fund the project for the 12 municipalities.  There will more meetings in the future and all comments are taken seriously.  Terry pointed out that the gas companies will be coming into the area.  It will bring money and business but will be bring negative changes as well. If anyone is considering a gas lease on their property they should get legal representation as well as talk to an accountant. It was asked why Silver Lake Township joined the Northern Tier Coalition and who voted on it.

Chief Michael Hornak gave the police report with 44 reportable incidents for the month of June.

Tom Swan gave the road report.  Majority of the roads are done.  Dust has been a big issue.  Tom complimented the roadcrew for their hard work in getting the roads taken care of.

One assessment permit was issued in June.

Tom Swan made a motion to pay the bills as submitted, Sandy Payne seconded, approved.  As no further business was presented, Terry Dugan made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
