Minutes of the May 2009 Supervisors' Meeting

The Silver Lake Township Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Silver Lake Township building. Terry Dugan called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and everyone saluted the Flag.

Terry Dugan made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Tom Swan seconded, approved.  The Treasurer report was read and held for audit on a motion made by Tom Swan and seconded by Terry Dugan.

Public Comment:  John Demaree asked what the status was on repairing Barney Road.  Tom Swan explained the ditches will be cleaned before the potholes are fixed. 

Terry Dugan read a letter received from Office of the Attorney General.  As of July 1, 2009 all home improvement contractors who do $5,000 or more in business must be registered with the state.  The registration is good for two years.  Brochures are available. 

Copies of letters were received the residents in the Laurel Lake area requesting another traffic study.  The request must come from the township.  A letter will be written to

PennDOT to request the traffic study on SR 4002 in the vicinity of Laurel Lake. 

Two requests have been made for fireworks permits.  The Fire Company for their Field Days to be held on July 11 with a rain date of July 12.  Joe Chobot for July 4 at Laurel Lake.  Terry Dugan made a motion to approve the permits if the permit is sent in along with the necessary insurance, Tom Swan seconded, approved.

Chief Michael Hornak gave the police report with 46 incidents for March and April.

Tom Swan gave the road report.  Road work has been started.  Two grants have been submitted to Soil Conservation.  Tom Swan made a motion to advertise to sell the International Dump truck, Terry Dugan seconded.

There were two assessment permits issued in April. 

Tom Swan made a motion to pay the bills as submitted, Terry Dugan seconded, approved.  As no further business was presented Tom Swan adjourned the meeting.
