Minutes of the June 2009 Supervisors' Meeting

The Silver Lake Township Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Silver Lake Township building. Terry Dugan called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and everyone saluted the Flag.Tom Swan made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Terry Dugan seconded, approved.  The Treasurer report was read and held for audit on a motion made by Tom Swan and seconded by Terry Dugan.

Public Comment:  Larry Harvilchuck stood and declared his candidacy for Township Supervisor.  Tom Jurista spoke and said he thought it was illegal to for someone to stand up during a meeting and make a statement like that.  Mr. Dugan said he did not believe it was illegal and the Supervisors have no control over what is said during the public comment section of the meeting.  Angel Kublo asked if Silver Lake Township has notified the NTC that they will not continue with zoning.  Mr. Swan said the Chairman of the NTC is aware that Silver Lake has opted out of zoning.

Terry Dugan read a resolution from PennDOT that will allow the township to file the necessary PennDOT reports on-line.  Tom Swan made a motion to approve the resolution, Terry Dugan seconded, approved. 

Terry Dugan read a resolution from Claverack Electric’s annual meeting.  Sandy Payne made a motion to approve Tom Swan as the voting representative for Silver Lake Township, Terry Dugan seconded, approved.

Nick Demaree submitted a request for a fireworks permit for the 4th of July.  Terry Dugan made a motion to approve the permit Tom Swan seconded, approved.

Chief Michael Hornak gave the police report with 21 incidents for May. The District Attorney informed the Silver Lake Police Department that incidents for Silver Lake Townships have decreased while incidents in other areas have gone through the roof.

Tom Swan gave the road report.  Summer road repairs continue. Ditches will be cleaned next.  The stone and oil roads will resurfaced through the PennDot agility program.  Terry Dugan read a letter received from Adelaid Williams thanking the road crew for the work done on Barney Road.  The bids for the 1982 International Dump Truck were opened:  Theodore Petrochko Jr. $2,560, Joe Nagy, $1,875 and Ron Cosklo $2,500.

One assessment permit issued in May. 

Tom Swan made a motion to pay the bills as submitted, Terry Dugan seconded, approved.  As no further business was presented Tom Swan adjourned the meeting.
