Minutes of the August 2009 Supervisors' Meeting

The Silver Lake Township Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Silver Lake Township building. Tom Swan called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and everyone saluted the Flag. Tom Swan made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Sandy Payne seconded, approved.  The Treasurer report was read and held for audit on a motion made by Tom Swan and seconded by Sandy Payne.

Public Comment:  Mrs. Chambers asked who would be responsible to putting up road signs for private roads that have never had a sign.  Tom Swan explained they are private roads and the residents that live on them will be responsible.  Kevin Smith attended the meeting and expressed concerns on SR 4002 at Quaker Lake.  Mr. Smith wanted to know what could be done to make people slow down in front of his residence.  Chief Michael Hornak helped to answer this and said the police department has a number of “hot” spots in the township of people complaining drivers are going too fast.  The school will be contacted regarding “Bus Stop Ahead” signs and the police will try to put in more time in that area.  Mr. Fruehan asked if out of the number of cars stopped on SR4002 at Quaker Lake if they were local residents or people traveling through the area.  The Chief said it was about even.  Mrs. Fruehan  pointed out that there will be an additional bus stop on the road.

Chief Michael Hornak gave the police report with 58 reportable incidents for the month of July.

Tom Swan gave the road report.  The stone and oil roads are just about ready for resurfacing through PennDOT’s agility program.

Two assessment permits were issued in July.

Tom Swan made a motion to pay the bills as submitted, Sandy Payne seconded, approved.  As no further business was presented Tom Swan adjourned the meeting.
